The raising of that flag on Suribachi means a Marine Corps for the next five hundred years.

James Forrestal

Secretary of the Navy, 23 February 1945

Our Mission

Marine Corps League members join together in camaraderie and fellowship for the purpose of preserving the traditions and promoting the interests of the United States Marine Corps. We band together those who are now serving in the United States Marine Corps and those who have been honorably discharged from that service; voluntarily aiding and rendering assistance to all Marines and former Marines and to their widows and orphans, and by perpetuating the history of the United States Marine Corps.

We, the members of the Thames River Detachment, which covers all of New London County, in this great State of Connecticut, welcome  all who peruse our pages and who are interested in joining our elite crew, to contact us at the site page under "Membership" made available. If you remember back when you were part of the greatest fighting machine ever devised by man, if you like helping people, if you like thinking good of yourself, then this may be the organization for you to join.
